End of School Games

Needed: ½ pool noodles, pool noodle nubs, large clean trash can

Break into Family Groups and look over all the games. The groups all have 5 minutes to come up with a biblical message for the game they want to play. The groups then all come together and take turns sharing their group's message using as many people as they choose. The group with the best explanation as judged by the sponsors gets to play the game they associated.

Play as many rounds as time allows!

Shuffle Your Buns

The chairs are arranged in a circle. One person is It and stands in the center of the circle. Everyone else sits down on a chair. One chair will be empty. The object of the game is for the sitting players to prevent It from sitting down. They do this by 'shuffling their buns' and moving either left or right to occupy the empty chair before It can sit down. Players may only move one chair left or right. Eventually someone isn't fast enough and It sits down. The person that missed the shuffle now becomes 'It'.

Wink-Um

Needed: Noodle nobs

Make a circle with chairs. The girls sit on the chairs, and the boys stand beside them. There should be one more boy than girls, so there should be an empty chair. The guy behind the empty chair makes eye contact with one of the girls, and winks at them. The girl tries to run to the empty chair, and the boy behind her tries to tag her with a noodle nub before she escapes.

Honey If You Love Me

The group sits in a circle facing inward. One member of the group is 'it.' The objective is for this person to make another smile with out touching them. It goes around the circle, picks a person, kneels, and asks him/her, 'Honey, if you love me, please, please smile?' The person must respond with, 'Honey, I love you, but I just can't smile,' without smiling. If he/she smiles, that person becomes 'it', replacing the first. If 'it' does not convince the person to smile, he/she must approach another until he/she does. 'It' may do any appropriate gestures he/she wants to make the person smile (e.g. make funny faces, do a stunt), but cannot touch the person.

Do You Love Your Neighbor

All players sit in a circle except one person who is IT and asks, "Do you love your neighbor?" If they say YES, only their neighbors trade seats and the person that's IT try's to get a seat. If he/she does, then the person left standing is IT. However if they says NO then the person that was chosen then answers with a physical trait of other people in the circle (ex. glasses, shoes, hair color, and style of cloths - " I don't love people with glasses".) and those people move to any seat they can get except for there own.

Clumps

Simply yell out a number then a body part or something group-able. (4 elbows, 7 feet) call the groups in such a way as to leave some people out. If they can't fit in a group they sit down.

Other clumps: height, hair color, # cavities, # siblings, shirt color, number of people in your immediate family, month of birth, favorite color, grade, middle initial, school you attend.

Dead Duck, Dead Duck, Goose

Play like Duck Duck Goose but keep adding "its" (stop at 3 "its") each time a new "it" is added they go in the opposite direction of the previous "It'!

Figuring It All Out

One player starts a 'secret' pattern to the game. A pattern can be made of one or more elements.

The game begins by one player saying "I'm going on a camping trip and I'm going to bring ______" and at this point the player picks anything they would like to bring on the trip. Let's assume that the pattern is things which begin with the letter 'S' so the player says "socks". Then the next player says " I'm going on a camping trip and I'm going to bring sandwiches. All players who have figured out the pattern would say "Okay, you can bring that on the camping trip". But let's say the third person hasn't caught on to the game yet and says, "I'm going on a camping trip and I'm going to bring bananas". All player who know the pattern should say, "No, you can't bring bananas" and play continues to the next player until everyone has caught onto the pattern. If a player thinks they know the pattern they must wait until their turn and say what they are bringing to the camping trip.

Some ideas (for those that can't think of something) follow:

1. Things which start with a certain letter of the alphabet such the letter G (gold, groceries, garbage etc.)

2. Things which end with a certain letter of the alphabet

3. Words with two vowels or consonants together (wheel, pizza, book etc.)

4. Words with a certain letter in the word such as the letter K (kangaroo, book, coke etc.)

5. Items consisting of two words (hot dogs, baking dish, waffle iron etc.)

6. Items with the same number of letters

7. Items which begin with the last letter of the last item mentioned.

Grab and Swat

Parts needed: pool noodles cut in half, a large bucket or clean trash can

Have everyone stand in a circle but have them face towards the outside of the circle.  Choose two youth to stand inside the circle, where the bucket is located.  Give them each a noodle.  The object of the game is for the student to swat someone and run back to the trash can, put the noodle in the trash can, and get back to where the person they swatted was standing, before they can grab the noodle out of the trash can and swat them back.  If they are able to hit the person back, before they make it back to the spot, then the one who got swatted back is now in the middle.  Add more noodles for more fun!

Screaming Viking

Screaming Viking is an entertaining game in which people act out silly motions and make noises.  To begin, have everyone sit in a circle with one person in the middle. The person in the middle points at a person seated in the circle and then screams, "Screaming Viking! (or one of the other formations described below). One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten!" While the person is counting, the person who was selected and the people directly to the left and right must form a formation, described below. If any of the three people (the person selected and the people to the left and right of that person) do not correctly respond in time (before the count to 10 is up) then whoever messes up must go into the middle and has to be a "Screaming Viking".

1. Screaming Viking: each person to the left and right of the selected person must make a rowing motion outwardly to the sides, while the person in the middle must place his or her fingers to the sides of his/her head with index finger pointed upwards, like horns. All three people must scream loudly.

2. Chia Pet: the three of them must act as a growing chia pet with hands lifting upwards. The 3 of them must shoud, "Ch-ch-ch-chia&ldots;"

3. Jello: the person in the center wobbles like jello, while each person to the side holds their arms out, forming a bowl. You can make up other appropriate responses - the sillier the better! The more enthusiastic and wacky you are, the more entertaining the game.
